Australia offers several visa options for individuals wishing to visit for tourism, leisure, or to see family and friends:
Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)
Suitable for tourists, family visitors, or business visitors. It allows stays of 3, 6, or 12 months and can be applied for from inside or outside Australia.
Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (Subclass 601)
Designed for short-term stays for tourism or business purposes, this visa is available to passport holders from eligible countries and allows multiple visits over 12 months, with each stay up to 3 months.
Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 870)
This visa allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to visit and stay in Australia for up to 3 or 5 years at a time. It provides a flexible, temporary option for families to reunite without requiring permanent migration. To apply, the parent must be sponsored by an approved sponsor and meet eligibility requirements. The visa can be renewed, allowing a total stay of up to 10 years in Australia, but it does not permit work.
